I do neck curls a few times a week but not always. I also get a decent amount of activation when I do shrugs also. My neck is not very thick but isn't narrow either. The main problem with training neck muscles is that the neck moves in four directions flexion, extension, lateral flexion, rotation. You can't just "hit it" with one move like biceps or chest. So training it needs multiple exercises and neck work can be dangerous if you are not careful

i just add neck curl or extension at the end of workout if there are extra time
neck extension pretty easy to get hurt, use lower weight and higher rep

Front and back curls is enough
Same way how back will always hit the bicep

Ideally you should train your neck just like any other muscle. The only thing I would change is I wouldn’t do 4-6 reps, I would lower the weight and do more reps, to avoid strain on the neck
