How pro-social are you in public? Do you smile and greet strangers in public? Small talk? How far do you usually go?

On a scale from 1 to 7, how pro-social are you in public with strangers:
1. Silent Observer – You move through crowds like a ghost: no eye contact, no nods, no words.
2. Polite Noddist – You’ll acknowledge someone only with a quick nod or “excuse me,” keeping interaction to an absolute minimum.
3. Friendly Smiler – If a stranger meets your gaze, you’ll flash a genuine smile or offer a brief “hello,” but you won’t go beyond that.
4. Casual Greeter – You sprinkle your outings with “good morning”s or “nice day, isn’t it?”s, seeing these small exchanges as simple goodwill gestures.

Then there’s the warmer, more engaged end of the spectrum:
5. Engaged Conversationalist – You’ll ask follow‑ups (“How’s your day going?”), share a quick anecdote, and treat brief chats as highlights of your routine.
6. Conversational Connector – You remember names, follow up on past exchanges, and readily offer directions or recommendations—turning random run‑ins into mini-conversations.
7. Super Social Enthusiast – Every stranger is a potential new friend: you strike up small talk at every opportunity, dive into local events, and leave no outing free of spirited, friendly interaction.

Depends on the day, either a 1 or a 4

I am usually 3, but sometimes a 2 or 4. I try to keep interactions to a minimum, but I behave like a 2, 3, or 4 when I do interact.

Partially because it's socially acceptable and feel like I should, and partially because i feel uncomfortable if I don't.
It also makes you feel like you're more connected to your society.

Probably (at least in the USA) because they usually do it to others, so you learned the behavior.
It was a social norm to smile and acknowledge strangers in public, but it's eroding now.

I'm a silent observer. I don't say anything to anyone (mainly foids) and just watch how people act. I find it repulsive and draining to talk to anyone who is outside of my family.

Of course, since if you sincerely believed in what you said, you wouldn't even have responded or clicked on this thread.

Nothing, I am ambivalent to the statement "I find it repulsive and draining to talk to anyone who is outside of my family.", so I used that reaction.
