How should I put the tables at my party?

Two groups are coming, my class mates and some old friends. Some of my old friends loosely know each other.
It's in a big tent.

Should I do like this with a big table and hope old and new friends mix?

Or like this and then have akward tension between the two groups approaching each other

or like this with a bunch of smaller groups?

either. take the tables and toss them outside. arrange a dozen Mooslum prayer mats on the floor. take all the food and combine together into a trash can. place that in the center of the mats. be sure to have a stack of paper plates and bowls to the sides of the food can. let everyone know as they arrive that that's how you roll now on. DIG IN! if they dont like it or find this to be rather rude and disgusting, show them to their cars. "either you're with or against me." make them understand that.
