I want to move to the Bahamas. Pay $500 rent - $200 food per month shit and save loads of money. But I am getting cucked by my company not letting me work outside the country

For the record they let you work remotely but have this requirement that you- must still reside in the States. My job is one that I can work remotely

The fuck is there to do in the Bahama's. Smells like shit, is 100 degrees year round, and populated solely by blackcels.

I am have the same thing with my job-
its normally because you become a tax resident of the country you move to after a certain amount of time residing there.
Some countries have specific digital nomad visas you can apply for though

Yeah I heard about that shit

I think what I will do is either digital nomad visa hop around- I believe most countries its - you can reside for 6 months and after that you gotta start payin local taxes- so Ill just keep appylin for new nomad visas in other countries

Or option 2
Get a country's visa that has no income tax and then just get tourists visas to hop around without disclosing anythin to my company

One thing I know for sure tho. is that I am going to move this job to full time remote with or without my company's approval since New York has turned into an absolute shithole and I see no benefits of living here.

They can be smart and contract you as a worker from that diff. country - aka pay you close to the local wage- which makes the entire point of moving useless-

in european countries its 90 days before you need to apply for a visa and become a tax resident.

countries like croatia, portrugal and spain all offer digital nomad visas

If I work remote and just move to a diff country how do I gain the ability to live and work in that country?

We should make a thread regarding this

you are ugly rn, you need surgeries to do something first, it's a good idea to go back home and just save the money for surgery, then when you get them, you try to live your life

If they let you do this, they'll pretty soon realise they can buy Indians for a quarter of your price. And they'll probably do a better job too.

Just say you're in Florida or something. How would they know?

Start your own company or move to a city/state with a lower cost of living

That’s kind of te dilemma I’d have tbh

I could never work overseas with my current role cos of insurance and security reasons- I’d like to digital nomad max at some point but then again, if I got a new job and it was rubbish and high cortisol would it even be worth it?

My current role is low cortisol which is why I like it

Great idea, let us know how it goes!

I'm living in Spain but also looking for US based remote jobs, so my expenses are peanuts but my salary huge like the average fat american jfl

Main problem is that it requires me to be a freelance (Spain rapes freelances with abusive taxes even if the income is very low) and that most US companies may be reticent to hire some rando freelance spaniard when they can hire a mexican they meet face to face. My only hope seems to be translating websites like Rev tbh, I need to look more for "side gigs/side hustles" that may pay low for the average american but that low pay still is like 3x the average spaniard's wage.

If you want to convince your company to let you work remotely and still get paid your US salary, you gotta show them the benefits. Like, they'll save money on overhead and they'll be able to attract top talent. Plus, you gotta prove that you can still be productive and engaged even when you're not in the office. Offer to check in with them regularly and be willing to compromise on some stuff. And make sure they know you're still committed to the company's success.

You should lie and use a vpn. Also get more than 1 job. Lets say your making 50k online and your working 4-5 hours per day. Just get another job paying 50k and live in the bahamas.

jfl just lie and use us proxy
This is what i did for about 2 years, i just lied and travelled around. Worked amazingly well. In fact, i also outsurced 70% of the job to a venezuelan freelancer too.

You can get away with a lot remote working too. Write off literally any basic amenity as a work expense etc. I don't think you can really get into trouble for traveling and working either like that, just say you were taking a short vacation and still completed your job
