How to act in social situations?

I’ve been with my gf for years now and one thing that has always been difficult for me is interacting with her family. I never know what to say. I’m not a loud and humorous person, so whenever I’m with all of them, I stand there looking at my gf for help. It’s the most uncomfortable thing ever and I dread it.

It’s easier to talk to complete strangers. But there’s only so much you can say to family members of your gf. I mean, what do I say? There’s nothing to talk about

Try to think of what charismatic movie characters you've seen would say in those situations.
You just need to have a role model that you understand and try to emulate them.
You need to reinvent yourself. It's a fake it till-you make it kinda thing. If you do it long enough, it becomes you.
There will never be a go-to handbook that can tell you exactly what to say in each situation, which is why it'll have to come to you naturally.
