for the longest time I've been wanting to get into to chess but how do you do it? books? play matches without a care in the world and review mistakes? course? it seems like the most common way is being forced by parents to frequent a club as a toddler and play decently over time

I went from not knowing what castling is to a rating of around 1500 in a little over one month of playing chess. I did play mostly long games and analyzed them afterward. I did a lot of the strategy lessons on chess.com.

After that, Logical Chess: Move By Move can be a good starter which got my rating upto ~1400 at my peak.

just go on lichess and start playing. watch youtube to learn (john bartholemew, slcc lessons etc plenty resources). also practice puzzles (free on lichess or chesstempo)

honestly just playing will be enoughto set u on the path. if u enjoy it you'll automatically find motivation to learn and improve gl

i play chess since im a kid i can give u some tips if u want. I would say the best way to start is create an acount in lichess.org. Its a perfect site. There theres a place where it teaches u everything of the basics principles. Theres GM teachers you can pay to have classes with.

And only play classical or rapid (If u r in a hurry). Blitz and bullet will not make you improve.

nah there’s some theory behind it
kings gambit etc
he played it without developing his knight to f3 which allowed my queen to come down and check, forcing him to give up castling
it was game over from there
