I’ve stayed up for over 30 hours so many times that it has made me stupid. Chronic sleep-deprivation leads to brain shrinkage, affecting cognitive abilities such as thinking, speaking, memorizing, etc. I never relied on caffeine to keep me awake. Today, I was contemplating doing this again, after I tried the first method, but decided against it. The method you described should only be done once in a blue moon. For me, the method never worked because as soon as I fixed it by staying up for more than 30 hours, I would often go back to ruining my sleeping schedule again just a day or two later, and then repeating the 30+ hour process again. Nowadays, I try to sleep everyday, even if I have university classes to attend. My sleep is more important than some classes. In the past, I’d pull all-nighters and spend all day at university. Not fun. Can’t say the first method has been working well for me either. The day before yesterday, I went to bed at noon. Yesterday, I went to bed at 11 AM. And today, I should have gone to bed at 10 AM, right? Nope. I went to bed at 2:30 PM, and I woke up twice; once at 6 PM, and then again at 8:15 PM. It’s currently 2:24 AM, but I’ll try sleeping before 7 AM.

Yeah, I would stop that ASAP if I were you. It’s better to have even one hour of sleep than none at all. You’re going to do a lot of damage to yourself if you keep this up, like I have. Rarely have I stayed awake for 48 hours, but I’ve done it twice before.
