I considered 3D printing one, invisalign have done this recently:

https://www.invisalign.com/palatal-expander

It is possible but will take a good amount of work to achieve.

Standard 3D printing materials like PLA, ABS, PETG won't cut it as they lack the compressive strength required. Nylon 12 and PEEK are both strong enough and are biocompatible, although they are both very difficult to print. Invisalign keep the material they're using proprietary, however it's likely to just be one of these.

This just leaves the issue of design.

The invisalign expander benefits from hires 3D scans of the teeth, and the expander sort of latches onto them to hold itself into place. This is achievable with 3D prints, but you need to get a decent map of your teeth.

One way to do this is with a gumshield, simply mold it into place then somehow get a scan of it.

It's something I wanted to look into as a project in the coming months, if there's enough interest in it then I'll definitely make it available to the looksmaxxing community.

if youre older then 15-16 toothborne expander wont do much you would need marpe or rpe(not bone borne but works if your 18-19)

that just moves teeth and your lower jaw must be significantly wider tho. Doesn’t do anything to the palate

It doesn't move the teeth, they're just used to hold it in place vertically. The pressure is still applied laterally to the soft palate.

i already went to 3 my parents wont let me. they say i dont need it but its just a jew plot to sell braces

This is interesting.

Why do you want to DIY it? For budget reasons?

The invisalign expander seems interesting too. There was a thread with a bunch of doctors that did palate expansion and orthotropic appliances all around the world. If money isn't a problem why not go for that? I was hesitating in between travelling to get ALF or just going for invisalign but the invisalign palate expander is making me reconsider.

you can try. it wont give much aesthetic benefit anyways. if you need better midface just do marpe/mse any doc would make you wear rpe at your age tho
i need wider palate and smile tbh but no doctor will give it to me

how wide is your palate? a lot of docs would just extract teeth instead of expanding the palate search some on the internet, subreddits, it also depends on the country you live in
