I have a recessed maxilla and its near impossible for me to breathe through my nose. I do it mindfully during the day with proper tongue posture, but am unable to hold this posture during sleep and catch myself waking up with my mouth open at times. I am interested in getting bimax or lefort 1 to correct my airways, but am not sure the steps required to get this covered by insurance. like where do i start

In the case that it doesn't work, there are surgeons in turkey who would perform this purely for cosmetic reasons right

was in a similar position here.

got a consultation with an ortho about my narrow palate significantly affecting my ability to breathe and also causing sleep apnea. had to do a sleep study which went well (as in it was bad enough to be covered by insurance), but they changed the plan to medically covered marpe instead of bimax. after my protocol im gonna meet with some other orthodontists and see what they have to say, but if your issues are bad enough and your insurance isnt stingy then double jaw surgery will most likely be covered.

about foreign surgeries—i have no experience personally, but from what ive observed atleast, id say it’s not worth it as people have gotten botched and saving a couple grand is honestly not worth it when you could just save up slightly more and get a reputable, trusted surgeon in america.
