I just started oblivion today. (Not remastered)
With the help of ChatGPT I got a good powerbuild going. But everything it tells me is stupid meta shit to do that is irrelevant to me, not beginner friendly at all.

How did you guys who have played/finished this game go about doing it?

Yea I do need good gear but only method im hearing is retarded farms or complicated drawn out methods. Very nonlinear game imo

But a linear game is contradictory with the idea of an RPG

Oblivion is a grind and you become overpowered quickly.

It’s very easy to get into the game. Just follow the story quests for a while and do any side quests which pique your interest.

The arena missions are fun and a good way to familiarize yourself with the combat.

Look at the grape farm near the Skingrad stables and collect all the grapes, then go to the tomato farm by the skingrad east gate and grab all the tomatoes

once you’re done go to the main ingredient in the imperial city market district and create restore as many fatigue potions as possible from the grapes and tomatoes

use that to level alchemy and get more gold

do the fighters guild it’s a good way to train combat skills and then the mages guild to get access to the arcane university so u can make your own spells

The biggest thing with Oblivion is the fucked up levelling system. If you don't get +5 to 3 attributes each time you level up, everyone else becomes way stronger compared to you. So, you will need to grind out side skills.

This creates a weird dynamic where, for example; as a blade user you will train with a mace way more often to improve your Strength. Or you don't pick blade skill as a main skill if you plan on using it in the first place.

Or honestly, just install a mod to give you +5 to all attributes at every levelup. That's what I ended up doing back in the day. Or you can use console commands to add the attributes you missed.

The best thing remastered did is to overhaul this massively broken system. The game is quite honestly very easy apart from this anyway. So you'll find your way anyway.

Also:
Endurance increases hp gain per level up. So it is better to invest into it early. Remastered makes this retroactive thankfully.
