Is it really fraud to use lighting that someone personally thinks they look good in? at this point I don’t know if I am just becoming dysmorphic of my face in certain lighting, as if it’s only me who perceives myself differently (better looking) in only certain lighting or if it just really possible to look completely different in a small change of lighting. Are you really a fraud if you don’t look good (at least judged by yourself) with terrible lighting and maybe a weird angle? Do others actually see the difference like I do?

I'll give you the simple answer:

It's not that deep. It seems like you're overthinking it way more than you should. Other people don't see all of these things and mostly don't care. Only big changes in your appearance matter and those are made of smaller changes which add up. First impressions matter a lot as well.

I feel like everyone has a different perception of how they view people. I think the average person will see themselves more as a fraud than how another person will see them. Just comes to that self criticism or whatever.

If I look at myself in the mirror for a while, at first I will believe I look great and absolutely mog. However, the more I look, the more I believe my nose is not matching my face, or that my face is long asf in general.

Lens distortion is also a thing too, pictures will never capture accurately what a person 100% looks like in real life imo. Lighting always impacts looks, you will have certain physical features shine more in general in specific lighting compared to other settings. At the end of the day, the way you look is the way you look.

It is preventing me from believing people who compliment me and say that I am good looking in person because I assume they are trying to make me feel better and at the end of the day, I assume that my perception is right that I look bad.

Would you say that it would be smarter to believe what people say rather than trusting how I see myself?
