1. Understand the Basics

far from it jfl I still struggle with particles and even katakana sometimes , I enrolled into a language school so we have lectures once a week which isn't nearly enough so I have to study by myself most of the time, also I have other stuff to tend to like college so it's kind of messed up however I will study more this winter break

It's easy, just learn the words by frequency with anki, learn & lookup basic grammar & watch a ton of Japanese content on YouTube without subtitles (preferably gaming or something so ur not bored) do this for a 6 months and you'll be conversational
