Here are my results:
(Before vs After)
Guide:
Use a high-lift developer + sun/heat activation (I used a blow dryer) A 10–20 volume hydrogen peroxide (developer) diluted with conditioner (about 1:1 or 1:2 ratio) can gradually break down your natural pigment without the intensity of full bleach
Apply it evenly to damp hair, then use heat (sunlight or a blow dryer on low) to accelerate the oxidation process
This mimics what lightening sprays do (but with more control and stronger results) Do this in short sessions (15–30 min max) and repeat over multiple days instead of one long session to avoid frying your hair
A more “stacked” method (what actually gives stronger results, and what I did) is layering techniques:
- Start with a clarifying wash (removes buildup so lightening works better)
- Apply a honey + a small amount of peroxide + conditioner mix (this slows the reaction so it lifts more evenly)
- Add heat exposure (sun or warm air)
- Rinse, deep condition, and repeat every few days
- pH + moisture -> adding conditioner prevents patchiness
- heat timing -> too much heat = damage, controlled heat = better lift
- repetition over intensity -> multiple mild lifts = better color than one aggressive one
Watch out though bcz dark hair will go orange/red before lighter (that’s not avoidable without toner)
Don't worry about it if it does happen, I had orangish hair for a while but it should lighten after a couple more sessions
PM me if you want to see more photos of the results and everything, I am 'redoing' this because I shaved my head for a Nazi initiation thing
