So I have been wearing lifts for about three years now and have never been caught. Thats why I will share my advice here.
There are really only two scenarios in which you could get caught.

Scenario A:

You have to visit someone (e.g. a house party, friends or family gathering) and have to take your shoes off. Solution: Ask if you can keep your shoes on because you get cold feet easily due to Raynaud's syndrome (a condition where you get cold hands and feet more easily). Thats usually enough. If the person still tells you to take them off, simply go to the bathroom first (pretend you urgently need to), then take off your lifts there and put them in your jacket/pocket.

Scenario B:

Someone comments on your high ankles, and asks if youre wearing lifts. This one is a bit more complicated. If it happens, you have to get creative and larp that you have a foot deformity and that your doctor gave you insoles for that and hope for the best. If he asks you to take your shoe off, its over. Ideally tho, you should always wear long trousers that stack on your shoes to prevent this from happening in the first place.

I know this is water for most but it can may safe a manlet from social death

you either wear sneakers like blazers and put them in, or you go chunky derby or something which are already lifted.

i'm 6 foot 1.5 and i do this. if you're under 6 foot just stop bothering and try something else. i'd just forget about the self improvement thing, and just enjoy eating food and being lazy, every second you spend on looksmaxxing is a waste of your life. just have fun with the life you have and the genetics you ended up with.

under 6 foot is a bit harsh since face still matters the most but yeah I get your point

Why 5'10?
I mean why bother, you want to wear shoe lifts to appear tall. 5’10 can fraud to 6 foot easily. Under 5’10 it’s just over either way and easier to LDAR
