Most people go to a surgeon expecting them to do all the work since they are “ the professionals” and after they get the surgery they either

  1. Don't get what they wanted
  2. They get a completely different thing
  3. Their looks dont change at all

You have to keep in mind that most surgeons are only trained to fix a problem rather than give you a solution for it, and they're also trained and taught on how to avoid any legal problems. So you have to be aware of what you say because anything could stop you from pressing charges. Here is what you need to keep in mind so you dont get fucked up:

  1. Know what you want, never let a surgeon decide that for you.

  1. Never take recommendations from a surgeon, surgeons don't care about you , they care about your money so taking recommendations from them will only make their job easier.

  1. Be aware of everything the surgeon says, this is the most important thing , they might trick you by saying things like : “ i know what im doing” , “ fixing your bite will also enhance your looks” or they might scare you into thinking that if you don't do what they tell you to do you will look worse.

  1. Never change your mind mid way, if you want something keep asking for it, changing your mind will only make it easier for them to trick you.

  1. Keep your answers straight forward. Giving broad answers would only make it easier for them to fuck you up and avoid legal trouble.

Keep in mind that a surgeon might refuse to give you a surgery after knowing that you're aware of their tricks , so if they do it's better to avoid them and search for another surgeon.

SURGEONS ARE NEVER ON YOUR SIDE, so even if they accept the surgery, you have to make sure you have something that you can sue them for if they fuck you up. Before the surgery, send them an email confirming your discussion with him about the surgery, make sure to say that you are going to pursue legal action if you don't get what you wanted. If they ignore your email, or if they don't confirm the email DON'T GET THE SURGERY.

It's always a good thing to make sure how many mm’s they're projecting your maxilla, if you ask them and they say:

“ 2-4 mm” dont get they surgery
“5-7”mm” good clear answer
“ as much as we safely can” the best answer you will get

They might also reply with :

“ too much projection looks unnatural”
“ we can’t go too far forward”
“Your bite will be misaligned”

But remember they only say that to scare you not because they care about you. Tell them that you're okay with slight misalignment and that you need as much projection as safely possible, if they keep hesitating then they don't know what to do.

If they say yes to all your requests and still give you something other than what you asked for, don't email the surgeon.

Make sure to hire a lawyer and explain everything to him and show him all the emails that you had with your surgeon. You will have all the evidence to get your money back minimum, you can also sue for pain and suffering to get more money. If your case is strong you might get around 3-4x what you paid for the surgery but this isn't guaranteed.

Might be water thread.

just for clarification taking recommendations from a surgeon isnt always a bad thing but if its stopping you from getting what you wanted than it probably is

Most surgeons are simply idiots with two digit IQs and they are too chicken to perform osteotomies. I once consulted Mats Hagstrom who has decent knowledge about facial bone structure and aesthetics. Guess what, he says he only do fillers lol. 30 years of experience and he comes up with fillers! What is his value add then? Even with 6 months right training an uneducated Afghan mountain cave militia can do the same

Can you imagine that they study medicine for years, they get incredible experience and they still can't figure out what to do...Their pretext for their stupidity is "Muh human body is too complicated we don't how it will behave" Have you ever seen a car mechanic saying I don't how the clutch I fixed will behave or a spacecraft engineer saying I put the rockets but I don't how what they will do.... but these board certified clowns have the audacity to say they don't know any shit

These are all valid objections.

As much advancement as possible, especially of the maxilla, is not always optimal and is a legitimate concern - not just a scare tactic.

I agree that you should be pro-active and do as much research as possible so you can probe your surgeon thoroughly though.

Classic incel mindset ”tHe wHole WoRLd iS aGainst me”

Not true at all, can definetly be enough.
nope if youre recessed 2-4mm of projection wont be enough

i know i meant that most surgeons use this as an excuse to just fix someones bite + i said the surgeon to project the maxilla as much as he safely can so if somthing does happen to you its just his fault. but thanks for clarifying i know i wasnt as detailed as i was supposed to be i though my thread would just end up abandond somewhere instead of having hundreds of people reading it.

I do agree to some extent but a surgeon opinion is also important, i am not saying to fully go blind mode, but also not saying to not trust them at all, for example, doing a big bimax movement might dogmax you and make you look worse, surgery is about begin realistic about, it's to fix failos and not make halos again.

true. taking recommendations from a surgeon isnt fully a bad thing but some surgeons just take it as an excuse.

This is not so black and white.

I've had experience where the surgeon's recommendation was the right choice and the wrong choice.

I went to one surgeon who said a 5mm bsso is plenty enough, and it was not.

I went to a surgeon who said too much maxilla downgrafting will make me look like a horse, and he was right.

When you disregard surgeons' recommendations and go to India to get your surgery done regardless, you end up with your mandible recessed and a droopy lower lip.

This is the right answer.

It is beyond fucked out there. More than 95% of PS:s are low-cognition money grabbers who have no real expertise or interest in their field.

What you want to do is save up a lot more money, and go to that 0,1% who constantly re-educate themselves with the newest information, go to PS conferences and constantly improve in their field.

Most PS:s even hesitate to show you their before after portfolio. Just laugh in their face and walk away. The chance of being botched by someone like this is close to 100%.

The top 0,1% cost 5-10x more because anyone with any sense only allows these people to operate on their faces. You should never consider facial PS on a low budget.

You need to be able to travel 10,000 miles if necessary and pick the most capable surgeons in the world regardless of where you live.
If you can't afford this, don't do facial PS. You will regret it for the rest of your life.
