How to reduce bimaxillary protrusion?

Do you just go to a dentist and ask them about possibly getting braces? I don't think a specialist would be required for something this mundane.
This procedure would be a lifesaver for lots of ethnics here. Reducing the protrusion makes the rest of the face look more forward grown.

Bimax doesn't seem required in most cases.
Usually, you either have your 1st premolars extracted to create some space for incissor retraction through braces. Or they'll use temporary anchorage devices to retract the incissors back without extractions.
Treatment time could range anywhere from 12 months to 32 months. Depending on the severity of protrusion, teeth mobility and the desired position.

the point is to bring in the anterior teeth but that also comes with bringing in the jaws, so you lengthen out the jaws after dental decompensation

The financial aspect of the entire endeavour is a bit troublesome. Most basic insurances will not cover this unless your condition is considered extreme. Costs could quite easily range $2K-$4k. Still not terribly high compared to most procedures discussed on here.

Having to spend to spend time with a metal structure in your mouth is also not ideal but whats a year and a half with braces to living your entire life with an "ape"-mouth.

The possibility of extractions is also a concern but as of late there are viable alternatives. I am not entirely sure if most regular orthodontists would provide those, however.

Mostly to evade bone loss caused by a lack of support by the extraction although now that you point it out. There's maybe no space for that as it's taken up by the retracted teeth.

Does the extent of down growth warrant bimax, though? I've seen lots of before and afters and the down growth isn't noticeable to me whatsoever. Perhaps it gets worse with time?

It's genetic in a lot of cases. Nearly every black person you see will have it to some degree while having a palate wider than most other ethnicities.
