Friday night I was applying a face mask and washed it off after 15 minutes. Since friday night my face has been fucking sticky and when I wash my face with lukewarm water my whole face burns and my skin becomes dry. I probably used too much facemask and left residual facemask on my face. How the fuck do I wash this off. I am 5 minutes away from killing myself. Its NOT a peel off facemask but a gel facemask or something likethat

Try exfoliating it or using some kind of oil to break down the residues

I went to the skin therapist and had a manual face cleansing friday. She filled a cup with face mask and gave it to me. So idk what facemask. Its yellow and because it burns it probably got acid/active shit in it. Fuck that therapist man. the face cleansing was good but wtf is this facemask. my face hurts when i move my mouth. it feels like superglue

Your skin barrier is compromised. Might be an allergic response or due to harsh ingredients reacting with your skin.

That’s why it hurts and gets really dry, because it is unable to hold water content in. All the water evaporates out of your skin due to the compromised barrier.

It will heal as long as you leave your skin alone for a week or two. If you want to accelerate the healing use a gentle cleanser and moisturizer morning and night. You can also reapply moisturizer throughout the day as necessary to fight the dryness. Don’t use any exfoliants or face masks.

You can research this further online, just search “damaged skin barrier”. It’s very common and people regularly discuss how they heal it on Reddit and such.

Good luck!

Do not use this. This is an exfoliator. Your skin is in a state where it is compromised. Using this will take off more layers of your skin leaving it raw and damaged. You’ll be in more pain.

Wouldn’t recommend seeing a skin therapist either. They often push you to buy shitty treatments to earn a profit. This will heal on its own. If you really feel like you need to see someone, see a dermatologist. That’s a real doctor who understands skin.

Don’t fuck around with random products or treatments other than a GENTLE cleanser and moisturizer because your skin is quite literally wounded. You’ll make it worse using anything else.

Thanks a lot. I tried using the exfoliater yesterday and it fucking burnt me. I went to a therapist and she gave me a fatty moisturizer and told me to use it and that it might worsen my acne. No way in hell I will use that. I dont want more acne. I will just wait a week and dont use any product except for vitamin c micellar water which I use to clean my skin with in the morning with pads for a couple of weeks. Is this a good plan?

This has fragrance which can irritate your skin. Micellar water is intended for makeup removal, do you use makeup? If not then this is not necessary. Also the Vitamin C can be irritating.

Where in the world are you? If Cerave is available to you I would recommend them.

Cerave has a gentle cleanser and moisturizing cream that are both good and will work for damaged skin barriers.

If that’s unavailable then the Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser is also a decent option.

alr will buy tomorrow. what did you think of the ingredients I send you?
There is Lactic Acid and Glycolic Acid. Both of which are fairly strong exfoliating ingredients. Leaving this mask on for too long with these ingredients may be the reason why your skin is compromised.

There are also a few essential oils and botanical extracts that could’ve been irritating and caused a reaction.
