WHY LOOKS MATTER EVEN ONLINE
this will be my attempt at categorizing my thoughts on why our perception helps construct our idea of others. online aswell
Let's get into it.
Why your profile picture matters.
As humans we use auditory and visual abilities to perceive the world, as such we tend to categorize and assign different subconscious feelings towards certain behaviors, sounds and images. water is wet basically.
How this tends to manifest.
If certain images arouse certain subconscious feelings, then this should apply to the online right?
Online we are exposed to thousands of visual stimuli, paired with it only being a visual one with no physical threat or presence our reaction to it is nonexistent.
However depending on how our neural pathway decides to react we can still generate an opinion based on a digital image.
We still form a reaction right? this guy is x or he looks like y.
but still it's not the real Chico, but that's irrelevant, his image still arouses certain reactions from us.
So all of that said, these images help generate or assist a feeling on the way we perceive someone.
Your writing style matters.
Just how in reality tone, articulation, and such matters. the way you write online also matters.
best example is @afroheadluke (love you bro) but the way he speaks antagonizes some people. and is commonly seen as non-nt or autistic
Or @ clavicular (not tagging his crusty ass) you can perceive his writing style as more confident. that can attract you.
There is the high iq style. @BigJimsWornOutTires @enchanted_elixir
all of these can construct the way someone is for you, the interesting part is none are the same for each person. @ey88 is a chill dude, or an antagonist for some who sees him that way.
TLDR: it matters only if you give a shit.
honorary mentions: @Dominicoon you captivate me @PsychoH Im not a fan of you but thats irrelevant, @Carbine im a hater. @Angutoid were both gonna be 6'0 one day, I would have mentioned a few more people but thirst traps pfps make me aversed to remembering them
