My exploration on this field continues and I recently started doing cryptography and network information security. There was an open elective for this in uni but i never bothered taking it because I was deep into development at that time

I download work sheets and assignments from my uni and some top schools and solve them manually in my notes and reference them from time to time. I haven't used a pen paper and solve stuff in a long time. My handwriting is horrible now not that it was any good before

Wouldn't it be 1024 bits? I worked it out above.
it's 896 bits not including the 128 bits field, adding that, it's 1024 bits yes, but not including the bit field it's 896
there are 896 padding bits
i am being technical here, kind of semantic tbh
i guess at your stage it would not be needed to exclude the length field

I mean I don't know where to tell you to start since I didn't really learn this stuff in an academic way but more autistic hyperfixation over many years, the stuff that kind of got me into it was the enigma stuff, I was super fascinated at how it was set up and also how it was cracked, i remember the exact computerphile video i watched. From there I coded my own enigma cryptor in python, then an enigma decryptor in C. obviously my modern PC completely raped the enigma algorithm, it's kind of insane how they created a monster machine that could crack it in 20 minutes whilst my modern PC cracks it within milliseconds. that was the kind of stuff that got me going

then it was elliptic curve maths and elliptic curve cryptography
and how it ties into diffie hellman

this is pretty cool too

i'd start with those things, elliptic curve cryptography and the link I sent

Iirc enigma code is like the first things that is taught in cryptography classes in uni. Like not the enigma-breaking problem that took Bletchley Park 100s of operators + Bombe machines more like cipher text with reduced key space version.

I've always been a firm believer that learning is life long process and that anyone can learn with effort. The only hinderence to learning is distractions

I don't believe it is i think it's lack of motivation from oldcels
the same way technically metabolism doesn't fall till you're like 55 or some shit but 40 yr olds swear their metabolism is so much worse, when in actual fact it's because the olcdels don't move as much which is why they're fatter

well I didnt learn any cryptography in uni i'm all self taught, watch these videos

these are like basic videos nothing insane but it should get you a bit motivated and teach you how the enigma was cracked
you know how to code? you should try and make your own enigma decryptor and use online enigma cryptors and try to crack their messages [which youll probably know anyways since you'll be the one entering it]
it'll be a fun puzzle for you
