Bro Im studying cs in uni and have no idea what any of these tools are. Goes to show how unpractical getting a degree is. A total waste of time

CS degree won't get you a job. I already made a thread about this. If you aren't constantly learning and upskilling yourself this field isn't for you tbh

I feel a lot of CScels actually got into the field purely for monetary reasons and never wanted to do tech in the first place tbh. I don't blame you tho.

Tech is always evolving tho? Like there's always new stuff to learn, explore and implement in that sense one of the few fields that can actually keep up with an ADHD brain constant novelty, constant stimulation. The trick is just finding new niches within it that reignite that curiosity every few months.

This is ADHD I have the same thing. I advise doing something unironically in cyber sec it’s quite dynamic so it always changes but yeah it’s rough for us. We don’t get along ofc but on this we can at least relate. I need sk thing niche and unique but this could also be an autistic trait or a mix of both pray you don’t have both :lul:🤣

Yes that’s literally me. I was always interested in stuff like literature,history and philosophy but you can’t make money in these fields so I was forced into cs because I am always on my PC anyways.

I liked the idea of working from home cause i dont know how to socialize and i hate everyone, but the math was killing me and the programming itself was just 2 hours of python without help from the teacher:cautious: But yes the money was also a pretty big part of why i picked it:Comfy:

I personally am trying “risk management” as I have esp in project management and ofc cyber sec General but mainly GDPR regulation legislations and high Network skill (I used to fuck around with Packet tracer for fun I enjoy bulging networks like a weirdo as I said one of the only things I don’t have to be forced to do)

nah i hate it all it all feels fake

like when i work on my car it feels real like i did something

tech is just shit changing on the screen its just boring to me

i think a lot of ppl are like this many programmers end up becoming farmers n shit

Tech sprints forward at warp speed new frameworks, languages, architectures, and paradigms drop every year. Your degree is nothing more than a fancy ticket for networking and opening doors, but it won’t hand you real world skills on a platter.

I've seen grads even from elite unis flop hard if they coasted on lectures without grinding personal projects or open source. You need to love computers and eat problem solving for breakfast. If that’s not your vibe, you’ll burn out fast and regret it. I've seen many casuals come into CS and fail to get jobs There is huge money to be made ofc. Look around the world runs on tech But that comes with large asterisk

If you are okay with a bit lower pay then there are many low effort jobs in tech also.

Ah yes. How can I forget this beloved catch phrase

:feelskek::feelskek::feelskek::feelskek:

@User28823

That’s cope imo it will make even more opportunities for senior developers

Whole IT industry will be A.I soon. Mass layoffs every month. Senior devs aren’t safe too only the top executives that have a large stake in company shares. People think A.I is a meme or cope now but watch this space. I’m sure horse riders centuries ago thought a piece of metal on wheels was just a fad now every infrastructure in the world is built around accommodating cars.

@Leo btw there many roles in tech that don't involve heavy math and are even client facing etc. in case you hate coding, don't like problem solving etc. You just have to accept that your pay will be lower than core IT people and your career trajectory will look similar to people from other fields instead of the steep inclines

All the programming "lines" or wtv they are called have the same amount of math in Sweden (the absolutely hardest one). If i dont do it know then i will have to do it later in life and it will be almost impossible to get a job for me cause everyone else will have done it:Comfy:

20 years is crazy idk how niggas work for more than 10 years in their life ngl
Tbh this nigga didn't even need to if his end goal was to do farming. He could have easily retired much earlier. I think later to mid 30s is a good time to retire after working in Big Tech. Staying will give you big benefits obviously but by that time you should have enough money to retire comfortably in some farm
