I consider myself relatively apolitical/ignorant but in my experience political extremists either way tend to not be caught up with identity politics culture war shit american moderates are.

My experience is that communists (A type of political extremist) are usually caught up in the culture war, on the woke side.

accelerationists, are another type of extremist that are off on their own away from the culture war.

Islamists who want to militarily take over the world, and form a global Islamic government are not really in the culture war.

Anarchists, and completely pro-free market capitalists, are usually in their own echo chamber, not connected to either side of the default political extreme.

So, I agree with you that most political extremists are not really in the culture war. Academic communists (or nerd communists) are different from the reddit/tick-tock communists. Academic communists are in their own bubble.

But all of the extremists are wrong. It's not seeing the full picture, that we need to balance different values and trade-offs imho.
