There was a mysterious car in my driveway. Just sitting there. It might've been here for my neighbor (we kinda share the driveway), or it might've been here because someone was stealing my Wi-Fi. I decided to investigate, maybe my first mistake. I approach, not hostile, but curious. Confused. And she explains she's actually here to pick up my nephew. My nephew is staying at my place because he's on some kind of school break. And I forgot that this girl is my nephew's friend.
My nephew heads outside and gets in her car. Now, I have zero basis for this, but I just know she unloaded on him about how uneasy I made her. I could see the look in her eyes. I'm pretty sure she frowned. And my nephew will be all like "Aw, he's just a little eccentric."
I talk a lot about how I want another shot at my youth. How, despite me being much older than I am young, I still want a shot, even if I fail. But this had me hurting. Not so much that I wanna give up. Not so much that I can't delude myself a little longer. I watch them drive off. And I choke out "Guess I... better work on my personality... "
