Being NT is a dog eat dog world. I've always realised this. But the last week was poignant reminder.
A 21-year-old curry grad recently joined my company under my line management. He's like that intern who asks you for work every second, when he's doing the work he asks for my approval every time. He is so fucking non-nt it gives me confidence. He is incredibly submissive. I could tell him to jump like a dog and he would do it. When I'm around him I feel like a boss, a CEO an emperor. But as soon as we go into a group setting alongside 6'4 white chads who sound like Prince Charming, I hide behind the shadows. He reminds me of myself actually.
Except he's trying so hard to fit in. I don't mean this in a bad way. Bless him. But its terrible for the corporate world and his career development.
He is so obviously a nerd. Top marks everywhere. Way smarter than me. He beat 500+ other graduates with 5 spots open. He didn't get this job because he aced interviews. He got this job because he is good with numbers. They did hire some NT guys/girls, but clearly he was just the guy that does the dirty work and someone else takes the credit.
