Its not wrong if youre properly engaging your glutes and hamstrings

I'm guessing bending your back especially on such a heavy weight is really bad for posture.

It's already bad to bend your back using your phone, imagine the results when you are doing it with 80kg or whatever it might be even though the force is reversed.

I’ve arched my back with overhead press my whole life and I’m only partially crippled

Were you purposefuly arching your back on ohp? That will definitely fuck your lower back

When I was doing ohp I was trying to sligtly flex my spine by contracting the abs

To be completely honest, i think almost everyone reaches a point in which he can't act like a robot anymore.

When you reach your top on certain exercises or hit a wall and can't progress for weeks and months, you start feeling the need of cheating somehow like using your back and shoulders in bicep curls with dumbbells and stuff like that.

If youre activating your glutes, hamstrings, and have the feeling the weight is on your knees its not a problem

Its a problem if your body wants to lean forward and the weight is not on your knees, youre using your back only and not the legs

In any leg exercise you should feel the weight on your knees

I’m mostly joking, but arching your back gives you more power if your core is less developed than your back

At the lockout its where you should really squeeze the core, not really flex the spine but keep it neutral and brace
