Why the fuck is tretinoin recommended like 2 days a week at first and it is said that irritation is bad and if it occurs to use it less, when you use accutane I never heard people take it 2 times a week then 3 times a week till they get to 7 days and they still peel and purge like hell, but eventually skin adapts! Since tretinoin is also a retinoind, doesn't it also mean that if you use it daily and then you get irritation and broken skin barrier skin will adapt faster?

The reason that this is, is that if not you can irritate the skin especially if you are prescribed a higher dosage

Also tret is NOT the same as accutane

The skin barrier wont adapt if you keep messing with it and destroying it

Always remember to follow your derma's instructions when using anything

Accutane has very different methods of reaching the skin than something like Tretinoin, while Acc goes through orally and is distributed via your circulatory system, Tretinoin is applied topically and absorbed by the skin. This translates in two main things:
1. Accutate being much more effective than Tretinoin will ever be, since it systmatically reduces thing like sebaceous gland activity.
2. Not actually needing to work up to the strongest tretinoin you can get.

Of course, you can just go directly into the strongest concentration you can find, but the reason why it's not recommended it's because it will fucking hurt bad, and you will look horrible, extreme inflammation, skin barrier damage, skin discomfort and chances of quitting. But of course, it's true that your skin will eventually adapt, but its just overall less of a horrible experience to just take your time and work up to it.

I know it's not the same, I never said they are the same, but accutane for many people causes irritation similar to tret, even worse and doctors never tell patients to back off and restart jfl

So in conclusion my skin will eventaully adapt if I use it everyday from start? The reason I quit tret is because I got irritation from 4 times a week and it took me a super long time to build up to that

I said it's also a retinoid, isn't this true tho? I never said they are the same, but both accutane and tret are retinoids

read what he said again
He said it's not recommended because skin will get super bad till it adapts, I mean I don't really care because I will restart in summer and stay at home till my skin adapts if it gets too bad

yeah ik that you never implicitly said that "tret=accutane" but with the way you worded the post you are implying that they are

yes they are retiniods but you cant treat them the same

Ofc I get what you mean, accutane is by far stronger, but wouldn't the method of starting tret daily result in a faster adaptation?

Honestly, do I advise it? No, you're going to suffer a lot very unnecessarily, but it seems like you're already pretty set on what you want to do anyway, you know the consequences, but truly your skin will eventually adapt and heal, just that it will take a few weeks of suffering and discomfort. You won't "adapt" faster either.

If you're okay with some temporary inflammation, peeling, redness, pain and barrier damage, go for it. The only thing I'll tell you not to skip is sunscreen, do not forget sunscreen, for the love of whatever deity you worship. Jumping straight into high % tretinoin and not using sun protection is retarded.
