About 5–6 months ago, my hair used to look loose wavy — almost straight in places. I didn’t use shampoo, just egg yolks instead. For styling, I used argan oil, and I wore a headband or a light beanie most of the day. Sometimes the beanie laid my hair flat, other times I let it hang loose from under it. I don’t remember the full routine, but the result was great — soft, tamed, wavy hair.

Now, my hair has always been curly, but back then I could tame it easily, and it would actually stay tamed. I could shape it into those loose waves, and it held up.

But a month ago, I got a haircut. I explicitly told the barber to only trim a little, but he cut off way more than I asked for. Since then, everything changed.

I let it grow out again — it's back to the same length it was when it looked wavy — but now it’s just full-on curly. Like 3C curly. It’s frizzy, tight, and refuses to cooperate.

I’ve tried almost the same routine that used to work, but my hair just won’t accept it anymore. It’s like no matter what I do, I can’t tame it the way I used to.

Has anyone else dealt with this? Same hair, same length, same routine — but a totally different texture after one bad cut? I’m seriously lost.
should I buzz it all of and try a routine again from the start

When your hair is wet, try brushing it back and wear a hat, then when it's damp enough, bring it back down and style it

Are you sure your hair rn has the same styling (haircut) as the one you had when it was wavy?
If not show the old pic and ask a new good barber to make it like that.

Also it doesn't look like your hair is long enough now, maybe that's cuz it's curly idk
