"I personally cannot stand the redesign that every fast food joint has fallen prey to. Having each restaurant mirror identically hyper-modern geometrical designs is definitely to their detriment. Not only are the restaurants indistinguishable from eachother but they've went the extra mile into making their restaurants feel even more sterile and uninviting. I recall the days when you knew you were at a Taco Bell just from the interior: Yellow or orange paint with some obscure mothman pieces. McDonald's was the same way in that it's interior was distinct. Now they've sacrificed both their unique identities but the comfort of their consumers. Such a shame"

Anyone else think this is due to the dumbing down of society? Everything is bland and corporate.

Its called cultural homogenization
You can observe it in USA compared to European countries in terms of architecture and city layout.
USA is layed out into a more grid-based system designed to maximize efficiency but as a result it leads to cookie-cutter cities where everything more or less looks the same.
