I had a nightmare last night.

It felt so real, idk what to say. It was a nightmare about me doxing myself. The nightmare goes like this -

So it was a normal day for me on looksmax.me... I ended up stupidly posting my face in the rating section.
And the first reply in that thread was by a user who was a forum bully/troll (I think it was @loox).

The reply consisted of a funny video of my face which started talking, automatically saying "Alright guys, so lets talk about picking up girls" in Connor Murphy's voice jfl.
That reply got lots of JFL reacts. I saw the same thing that happened to @copingvolcel when he first posted his face... but it was me this time.

I felt the regret of doxing myself on the main forum DURING the nightmare and I said to myself, "this can't be real".
When I woke up, I was so glad that none of this was real. But damn, I woke up so shocked in the middle of night, I'm not even joking fellas.

Showing your face on a forum doesn't count as doxxing.

True doxxing is when people on the internet discover your real name and your address, and it's bad because then you become at their mercy, since they can spam your social media accounts and some of them could even show up to your house.

The only downsides with showing your face online are that:

1) It makes it easier for people to find out your real name and address

2) People can now judge you based on your appearance and you can no longer pretend to be someone you're not, and people will trust your advice less on some topics if they know what you look like. For example, people tend to trust my gymmaxxing advice more when they don't know that I'm a skinny guy, and when they find out, they make the assumption that I'm just as clueless as when I first started lifting.

3) If you become too famous in the future, looksmax users can make the connection and ruin your reputation by taking screenshots of your posts and sharing them on social media, that is a good way to cancel someone. However, the vast majority of people will never reach that level of fame, especially not looksmax users, but that could happen to someone who was very active a long time ago if the site is still around many years later and if people don't forget the person.

Doxxing will never happen to you unless other people find a way to track your IP address and as we know, most looksmax users aren't good enough with computers to achieve this even if it was possible (and the admin probably has security measures to prevent it anyways).
And it will never happen as long as you never reveal your first name or last name, and as long as you don't post the exact same file that you are using on facebook. You could use the same pictures but they need to be edited with less pixels so that google doesn't see it as the same file. That's how I make my pictures protected from reverse image search so that nobody can find my facebook account.

Also, most people here don't care about who you are in real life or your real name, they only care about judging you based on your looks since that's what the website is all about.
