I'm just too visual. I want to jump straight into the finalizing details of things before I even finish the first step. I'm working on a painting right now, and due to the process it must use certain colors and undertones to separate the masses. Point being, the figure riding the stallion is meant to have a snow white cloak, as is his stallions coloring. But you simply can't use any white in the beginning stages or you'll spoil the whole thing. White has to be revealed through undertones and lighting, so actually coloring the rider and his stallion will have to be one of the final touches to it...
Center masses and general idea:
First stages of coloring:
Man it's frustrating. I hate taking things one step at a time.
