try to prove pythagorean theorem or something similar, coming up with proofs, being creative when problem solving, that is a big part of maths. But yeah I agree, doing math is like solving iq tests constantly
Again why would anyone do this in their spare time and find it in any way entertaining? I hate everything taught to me in ((school)). It seriously pains me to do maths, in fact any academic subject because its so boring. I honestly just don't get most people.
as I said, try to prove it and when you get it it's a nice feeling. That is one part that is fun, but that's not really what mathematicians mean when they say they love their field. It is the complexity of the subfields and how beautifully different results connect together. Symmetry and simplicity that can explain a lot of special cases is somehow beautiful to us humans. And it makes sense as symmetries are at the core of physics, explaining why our world can exist.
