My parents don't care but my grandparents always taught me to eat and drink quietly, eat with my mouth closed, make sure not to drop food on the table and leave bits on the sides of my mouth etc.

Yea my family is the opposite, main reason why i eat alone now. I dont eat dinner with my family and then my parents and brother sister call me crazy.
They fucking burp all the time and are so unhygienic. Talking all the time while their mouths are full and little bits of their food inside their mouth being spit in my food (this genuinely happens) i mean i can be hungry for the whole day but eating with my family makes me lose my appetite (not kidding) I dont think my mom washes hands before making food aswell. I caught her going to the toilet and then making food after (no hands washed).
It sounds sad but i either take the food and eat it in my room and watch youtube or i just make my own food and eat it alone when their done eating
