Most anime fans especially the otaku weebs are weird af, it doesnt help that most modern anime is absolutely mindless slop with shit art styles and generic isekai stories.

I loved the 90s anime like cowboy bebop,Trigun,Berserk and Ghost in the Shell but they just don't make them like they used to.

The only decent modern anime was Vinland Saga.

I'm going to have to find a new hobby to replace Anime

I only like stuff from Watanabe tbh, more western style Anime. I did like Cyberpunk Edgerunners though.

I think the normies invading my hobby ruined it for me, its become less special and now its more generic.

The same thing has been happening to video games

you gotta watch NT and acceptable animes.

if you watch some niche jb-baiting 'muh but shes 3000 year old' type animes you will get flamed. if you watch one punch and as you said cyberpunk, that's quite NT.

if in doubt, or if it's yielded negative results, hide the hobby. i myself am improving my hobby masking capabilities because i have some of the worst non-sexual hobbies known to man.

Death Note fell off hard in the second half, and that ending was incredibly stupid.

The problem with these hobbies is mainly the fact that losers love them, and by proxy I'm associated with them.

I don't mind masking the hobbies but i feel i need to branch out outside of video games and Anime

yes, generally. when the main fan population are not neckbeard wannabe-japanese weeaboos, then you are in the clear.

honestly, best to have 2-4 super nt 'show' hobbies. mine are singing, reading, fitness and teaching [something that could dox me] for a bit of money. even this last one makes me seem nerdy so it doesn't come out much, but it's good career-wise.

then i have my unfortunate hobbies, which are bizarre enough to have people use it as a label for me (ie it involuntarily becomes a big part of my public image). not good. currently in the process of putting it into the 'closet', which is harder than it seems when you are so interested, passionate and happy to engage in said hobbies and share them with the world. it's painful, but it will be worth it (i hope).

As a kid back in the day in 2009, I was bullied a lot for liking anime. Heck many didn't even know what it was in my rural town. I am shocked anime has become so popular now.

yeah youre right. i feel like its important to have some interests that arent super weird and make u seem more relatable to others. i dont rly have any weird hobbies now that i think about it its relatively normal. im just clearly a mentalcel lol

These anime are quite edgy and obscure so they may not seem all that NT friendly but they also overlap a lot with Western film style so there's that. I got more recommendations too. Lol.

Yeah, weird sight to see.

Granted, I still think certain types of anime aren't really normie either. Not even the weird ones like loli stuff, but more obscure subcultures. Mecha anime doesn't seem that popular in the west either sans Evangelion which isn't really popular cuz it's mecha.

Like being into JRPGs isn't that normie IME for example, whereas shounen anime is.

Agree with you more or less except the reason I quitted Anime months ago was that it became too
mainstream and is now overrun by normies and women

Being nerdy is actually trendy now for some reason like you have popular male/female influencers with
millions of followers saying how they're muh introverts and enjoy being alone Gaming and watching
Anime effectively hijacking the solace that true actual nerds once had.
