Gym mirrors are tilted down and slightly convex (makes you look wider with a bigger upper body than lower body).
Downlighting is brutal though, only gay gymcels like it, side lighting will always be superior for general aesthetics as it makes your midlines more defined and is generally better for “female gaze”.
