As someone who types for a living, I always wanted one of those fancy ass mechanical keyboards nit because i am a gamer. I don't really game much just the occasional casual session with friends But because I liked the idea of having a loud ass keyboard with clicky keys that feel like old-school typewriters.

So, I ended up getting something like this. I can't recall the brand or model but it had that full-sized layout, chunky keycaps, RGB lighting the whole PC master race vibe

1000192679

But I soon realized that after using my laptop for years. I have gotten so used to typing on low profile keys that my fingers and hand quickly get tired on elevated keyboards like these. Within a few minutes of typing I experience wrist fatigue and because of the long key travel for the key to get activated my typing speed has also slowed down lot. Productivity decreased instead of what I thought would be a good purchase and I still strongly prefer being on my laptop because I dont like spending a lot of time sitting and have a lazy and bad habit of typing on my bed laying down which is bad for my back. Regardless I am back to using laptop to get work done. Any other recommendations of what I can try?

Mechanical keyboards make a satisfying sound during typing. They also feel much more ergonomic to me.

I just like laptops too much, I hate mechanical keyboard sm they’re just too loud, it’s only worth it if your wearing headphones and talking with your friends other than that it’s unbearable for everyone else

It really depends on the switches that are built into the keyboard. I've had the most pleasant typing experience with MX Brown mechanical switches. I've tried MX Blue before and found them terrible.

So Mechanical Keyboard != Mechanical Keyboard. I urge you to try them out in a store and get a feeling for what you prefer.

I don't know about the modern GOAT, but back then I bought the Roccat Vulcan 120, and despite the switches looking a bit goofy, it was still one of my best hardware periphery purchases ever.

i also transitioned from laptop keyboard to mechanical before, first feel abit weird, after a while you ll realize the feedback of mechanical keyboard is superior, you can adjust the sound, sensitivity or travel distance of the custom switch if you going deeper into it

Depends what kind of switch you got op

There are some that have lighter resistance

Opposite for me, I love my cheap chink mechanical keyboard, I love clickity clackity n shit, autist trait tbh
I bought it in 2017 and still works
its true that they are overrated though, they used to be cheap until gamers started rating them then jews jacked up the price
