Life is empty, boring, devoid of any meaning for us average people who have to work to survive. Things like travel or whatever gets boring after you have checked off your bucket list. When there’s nothing to look forward in life, kids will give a sense of purpose and stability to life.

They're just mindless beings doing what they've been taught since the beginning: get a job, build a family, be miserable, die

I’m the youngest person at my work (if you exclude temp interns). There’s a sizeable amount of 50+ people. I dont want to be in the same position when I’m that age, I havent found any escape hatch yet.

I mean what’s an average person who was not born into wealth supposed to do once the youth starts to fade away. Life is long and it only gets worse. Having kids looks like a good cope to keep you away from the rope at that point.

yeah makes sense when u think about it that way but who doesn't love kids, it's hard to raise them and care for them tho

He's supposed to find other copes. Being a 24/7 slave doesn't sound like a good cope to me

But everyone has different views, do what ya gotta do

It’s not the money but the feeling of being chained to a desk for 8 hours 5 days a week. Even if you work from home, you have to be avaialble for Teams meetings and such. You cant just log off and go lie down on a beach.

Idk how it’s in software but it’s likely you are expected to put more than 8 hours a day for 150k+. You cant retire on that quickly, so its like worst of both worlds. Only those 400k a year lawyers and hedge fund managers can afford to retire before the 40th birthday.
