I still don't understand why people care so much about gonial angle

It's still a more popular thing than mandible plane angle, why? Why would the ramus being curved/horizontal rather than straight vertical matter so much? I haven't seen anyone explain this to me.

Still it's more valued in CA harmony score etc..

high gonial angle means downward grown jaw = recessed maxilla = ugly
low gonial angle means forward grown jaw = good midface = mtn minimum

No you don't understand, gonial angle takes into account how diagonal the ramus is. I haven't seen any explanation on why that would be so important.

higher gonial angle is better tbh

taller chin, better from the side, it all depends on ur ramus

Depends on the person which suits them

@NZb6Air you ugh reacted, but you can't give an explanation, mandible plane angle is much superior, and is what actually translates to front

they just mean mandibular plane angle and assume the ramus is vertical. you're really just nitpicking.

the bigger issue is people calling the apex of the masseter and soft tissue as seen from the front gonia (or gonions since theyre all illiterate retards) because people actually design retardedly flared jaw implants based on this misunderstanding

But there are people with ideal plane angle and a high gonial angle, it's not that uncommon atleast from my experience. I originally got this from thecel's thread, i understand that gonial angle is easier, i use it too.

But imo mandible plane angle should be more important when objectively assessing a face. Although ideal mandible plane angle already plays into jaw frontal angle, so in that way it already is kind of?

Yeah, but i mean it makes sense, i used to think that bigonial width is where the masseter muscle sits too. And i think it's pretty hard to discern where exactly the bigonial width should be measured, especially if a person doesn't have insane angularity/leanness in the area.

ye gonial angle is completely useless and doesnt translate to front and zenis canthal tilt esr is optimal with 20mm pfl
high gonial angle means downward grown jaw = recessed maxilla = ugly
low gonial angle means forward grown jaw = good midface = mtn minimum
and this guy doesnt understand, gonial angle takes into account how diagonal ( :lul: ) the ramus is.

This on the red line is what matters how steep your jaw is in front profile (along with width chin etc..)

Gonial angle doesn't (i don't know if the gonial angle is the same actually but you get the idea)

I just don't see why it would be so important for ramus to be vertical but idk

? MPA and GA are always highly correlated, shit growth will rape the ramus and thus the body
Yeah but i've seen many faces with sub-ideal gonial angles and ideal mpas. Lorenzo is a good popular example, gonial angle 130+ but ideal mpa and jfa

Ah ok i saw a video of him by faceiq he had him at 130+ somehow, i'll try measuring myself and finding other examples, unfortunately i always delete the pictures off my phone when i'm done measuring someone

I think faceIQ was in the right here, here's the best side profile pic where his jaw is somewhat defined, it's 130+ here, you can try it yourself It's hard to find defined pics of him so i think the submental tricked you

141 here in side-3/4 pic with actual good definition. There's a difference between that and full side obviously, but from my experience it's 10ish.

The side you sent would be more like this

Lower gonial angle correlates with bite force and is a masculine trait, bigger masseter muscles are correlated with lower gonial angle. So it's litteraly biology that lower angle to a certain point is more preffered
