I have the memory of an elephant but also a squirrel at the same time.
If I can focus and lock into something I can remember things for a very long time with all the details conversations, faces, moments with lot of the details
but I also regularly forget where I kept my car keys, regularly forget taking my charger with me or why I walked into a room etc. When something is routine or unimportant is happening my brain just shuts down and is on auto pilot mode.
But when interested or emotionally engaged my is memory is extremely strong. I can spook people with my memory sometimes people often ask me how I was able to remember something
Pretty sure these traits are common for people with a mild form of ADHD subtype called ADD, it's not the kind that is debilitating like real ADHD that causes sleep issues and all that but more like the kind that makes you miserable because you constantly ruminate on past interactions. I have this. I hold onto negativity for a long time and I'm always overthinking past interactions.
