autism is a very broad definition, people with moderate-low amount of autism wouldn't have had problems if grown up in good environment with positive reinforcement.

A guy (but much less frequently, a girl) that has Asperger's Syndrome and has no clue as to how to be socially aware.

What's worse, an Aspergatron does NOT want to improve their social capabilities, simply thinking that it's somehow impossible to be both intelligent and social (false dichotomy, yay!).

Their aspergatronic circuitry doesn't seem to allow them the capacity to be a more well-rounded human being, and thus they get stuck in an infinite loop whereby they think that all that's required for success in life is raw intellect, thereby showing that they're not as intelligent as they thought they were and thus failing at life (and thus withdrawing further into obscure hobbies).

The real number is way higher than that. Getting diagnosed with autism is not an easy process. I only was at age 36 after attempting suicide, 2 years of therapy, being arrested 5 times by my counselors, begging a psych to just fucking test me for months, and being on Medicaid so I could afford getting the diagnosis.

Sorry to hear about your experience

Like half (at minimum) here are autistic. The statistics must be completely wrong for that to be the case.

Autism wouldn’t exist if most had it - it would be considered normal; and neurotypicals would be the odd ones.

Most get diagnosed at like 7 or 8 and it isn’t a condition which is “developed” so people would be sceptical of a bloke in his mid 30s getting it who’d been to college, played sport at a high level and worked multiple jobs
