They're best used the taller you are especially around 5'10 to 6'0 since you can get to that goldilocks zone and even without shoes you wont be short so won't really get caught and even if you do won't get hit the stigma of overcompensating.

With boots you can gain up to 4 inches and that takes you into normal territory unless you are under 5'5
