The Bible is very based, and has great life lessons and inspirational stories, it all depends on how you read it, and you have to make sure you keep everything with context, and open to different views on different parts of it. Jesus saves, might as well pray to him if this life has not treated you well, if your at the bottom, not that much to lose.

By accepting Christ, you can let go the weakness of your old self, and become a powerful, new, man.

You should, I would start with some of Genesis until up to Abraham and Jacob, if you get bored just take a break, jump around, don't go to hard with it. You can jump around to get a grasp on the stories, many Books are self-contained in a way, that you will understand their own lessons, even if you miss some context, although with context it is better and you realize lots of the little details when you look at it as a whole. Good Books that you might find interesting, Book of Psalms, Book of Proverbs, and any of the New Testament gospels, the writings and parables of Jesus are amazing.

The drawing style looks interesting, but might not be in line with Christian thinking. Has drawings of the Lord Jesus Christ, along with the fact that it depicts him with long hair.
