I was watching India’s tour of England on TV today, and it brought back a lifelong dream of mine to watch a full test match at Lord’s, the iconic home of cricket. But not just from any seat I’ve always wanted to experience it from the legendary Long Room. It’s got that old-school charm all wood-paneled with historic paintings of greats super exclusive. MCC members only and the waiting list is decades long basically VVIP only with a dress code of a Victorian ball with a suit and tie compulsory. I want to sit there and watch the cricket match with wife and clap as hard as I can when team India goes for batting. Maybe one day I’ll manage it.
Honestly, there aren’t many sporting experiences that feel as classy as that. There’s Wimbledon or the Royal Ascot, but I am still an Indian at heart so cricket tops them all. There’s just something special about test match, the atmosphere at Lord’s, the tradition and the history of thr place. One day, hopefully.
