I want to get on retinoids but I'm scared

Looked at some foids video comments and it scared the F out of me, people were saying it caused prematured ageing, flaking and discoloration on their skin.

Is retinoids legit for prevention purposes or is it something that should only be used to fix major skin issues?

If you start with a gentle retinoid, you'll be absolutely fine.
As for if they are legit- they are the single most effective category of compounds we have for anti ageing and are one of the new things that can be legally marketed as "anti ageing".

That's literally what was supposed to happen the first time you use it, It goes away after a couple of weeks.
