I managed to get an appointment by telling my insurance I'm suicidal, which is not true (anymore) but it helps you to find a therapist faster. But it was disgusting. The therapist was an old man, looked like 70 or so, he just sat there and listened to a few things I said about my life, barely responded, asked or commented anything (honestly he didn't respond or comment on anything) and never said any empathetic word. It went for 50 minutes, there were many moments where for 30 seconds or so no one said a word.
When I was still in school, my mother forced me to go therapy, and while I hated it, it was better than this time. These therapists were female and they were much more responsive and actually showed empathy ("This must have been hard", etc.), not like this old man who was cold as ice. I don't think I will go again, or maybe only if it's a female therapist, it seems like men are just cruel to each other. I felt worse after knowing that not even he gave a shit despited being paid to do so, ngl.
