My granddad got his first job by walking into an office, shaking hands with the owner and he got hired and started work 2 days after. They'll never understand the struggle of your resume getting rejected, long waiting times etc

Some places in the US are actually still like this. When I visited New Hampshire it seemed like every store was hiring because they didn't have enough people to do all the work they had available. You could theoretically just walk in and make a good impression with no resume whatsoever and still get hired. Obviously in major cities this won't ever be the case.

I especially hate the ATS bots. The person who is judging your resume. Shortlisting people and deciding whether you are good fit for the job or not is fucking computer algorithm.
