While I love my macbook air how sleek it has, how fast and power efficient it is.

My main problem is they use ARM architecture unlike most servers, cloud , and traditional developer laptops which use x86 (Intel/AMD). They have crazy performance per watt and have insane durability. They are common in mobile phones and even in laptops are perfect for compiling code running containers, or multitasking. But the problem is compatibility.. I recently started learning cybersecurity just upskilling myself and learning new stuff


And OMG it has been so fucking frustrating. VMs, and security tools are built for x86 so they either run slower under emulation (Rosetta 2) or break completely. In Metasploit certain VPN clients completely fail and behave very weirdly. Makes me want throw my laptop on ground it is really that frustrating

Reminds me of my shitty Windows 11 laptop. It requires me to keep my PC turned on for at least 2 hours before I can enter my PIN.

I needed to use it last night and wasted 4 hours trying to get access to my laptop. I finally did at 2:35 AM.

I9 in laptop? It must be gaming laptop. Gaming laptops like that are known to breakdown due to thermal throttling and fans roaring 24/7. You don't need a lot of resources to do coding

I don't see it at production grade virtualization tbh Real production setups run on dedicated x86 with proper virtualization platforms like VMware ESXi those can handle heavy workloads. Fusion on a Mac is fine for testing or personal projects etc
