For California it’s actually the Central Coast north of LA that you want, Ventura and Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo, for sure the nicest place in the US. If I can’t get a visa for Europe then I’ll apply for some jobs there as well, I just need to be in a nicer place with no fat people.

Yes, Europe is a looooot safer compared to the Americas. Though I'd argue that even the most violent US city doesn't hold a candle to Mexico. Violent US cities are basically Mexico-lite at their worst. I'm glad not to be Mexican. Sucks to hear about you having been on the receiving end of that. Hopefully you don't have any trauma from that. Tbh I feel like a lot about Europe is blown out of proportion. It's not as bad as people make it out to be. There's no "ethnic takeover." It's still a mostly-white area.

But Buddhism is helping me realise that my situation isn't my fault as I never asked to be born into things I can't control, that suffering (dukkha) is inherint to life, and to not attach myself to the bullshit attachments and illusions (maya) of this world and to maybe find peace. Funny how I can relate to your mentality despite being Islamic. In fact I'd say there's a total overlap here. For example, from a religious POV, we are also told not to attach ourself to this world (dunya) and focus on the hereafter instead. But I'm very uh, pessimistic to the point where I just am unconvinced of an afterlife and that we just enter nothingness once we die. Depressing AF.
