Ideal jaw and chin tapering

I’m planning to make a thread on this in the near future, but I am curious as to some of your guys’ thoughts on what the ideal jaw tapering looks like? Is it one with a smooth contour toward the chin? Maybe one that causes the appearance of an angular chin that looks separated from the jaw body? Usually, a good jaw will hit certain (many) ideal ratios from the front, but there are still some that look better than others from an aesthetic standpoint.

This is one of the things where I think it unironically depends, both can be equally good features depending on pheno/skull/harmony/dimorphism

An example of that hollow which creates that cut-glass sort of look to the chino is Kelly Oubre jr in this photo

There is also Tom Cruise but he is an example (at least in this photo) of a jaw-to-chin taper that is strong but perhaps less dramatic in its angularity. I’m not really arguing if this looks better than the other as they both look good to me.

Another example is David Gandy. His chin looks strong here, and the way the lateral aspects of the chin are shaped make his hollows appear further back although I could be mistaken.

long straight ramus, good mandibular plane ( very important imo), wide chin trapezium shaped jaw.
and i dont know what they are called but when you smile and those muscles around your chin pop like straight line like with matt bommer

I know what you’re referring to. Unfortunately, you can only approximate certain features with bone. It seems like some of those coveted physical characteristics have basis in soft tissue placement/tone/etc.
