If humans are born with rights by their very nature of being human how can some people lose those rights?

From the very moment we are born we are told we have certain rights. If we are born with them these traits are inherent.

Freedom for example is largely considered to be one of these rights, however we still consider it just to put people in prison. We still largely consider putting people in prison to be just so this would of course entail that you can lose your right to freedom.

But how does this happen if rights are inherent to ourselves by our very nature?

The social contract solves this issue but I’m specifically addressing the view that rights are inherent qualities to humans

The view is the equivalent to how there are people born with blue eyes it’s an inherent trait
