Capitalist vs Communist is an outdated dichotomy to look at the world today. What we have is terrible features of both the systems with very few of the good ones. The specific type of "woke-capitalism" we have today is mainly a result of leftists taking over academia over the past 50 years. Some of the people in charge at the top genuinely believe in it, some pay ransom to leftist activists to keep the heat away and some rile them up to use for their own ends.
To understand things better, you need to understand the business and ideological interests of the like the top 1000 people, it's not ideologies running things, it's people.
