- Attachment issues – Kids are supposed to bond with their parents, not random sitters. If they spend too much time with someone else, it can mess with their sense of security.
- Mixed values – A babysitter won’t raise your kid the same way you would. They bring their own habits, language, and attitude that the kid might copy, which can clash with the parents’ way of doing things.
- Neglect risk – A lot of babysitters don’t actually care, they’re just there for the paycheck. That can leave the kid feeling ignored or emotionally neglected.
- Confusion about authority – Having multiple adults telling them what to do can make kids confused about who’s really in charge, which weakens parental authority.
- Safety problems – At the end of the day, you’re leaving your kid with someone who isn’t family. Even if they’re “trusted,” accidents or worse can happen.
